My Thoughts on Mr. Dan Rather...

I grew up watching CBS. It's all we really knew for local or national news. Our CBS station in Macon, GA dominated the market's ratings. Therefore, I grew up watching and trusting Dan Rather.

Through the years, and leading up to the most recent mistake made by CBS and Rather, I've had to phrase and re-phrase my fondness of Dan. It went from "I like Dan Rather; he's my favorite." To "I like Dan Rather as a 'news man.'" Now, it's simply "I like Dan's delivery..."

The trust factor has dwindled because he's let his personal views skew his reporting. When I first started hearing of his differing views, I thought it was just personal and he wasn't transferring them onto the news desk. But now, all I have left to admire are his silly sayings and broadcast delivery style. I particularly like the way he always looks down to check his paper script before he quotes a numerical figure of some sort. That has always impressed me.

But, you can't deny the mistakes that were made.

Has CBS always had a liberal slant? Who is your pick for a replacement? Would you be interested in seeing a multi-anchor situation on the Evening News?
