Gaither Vocal Band sans Homecoming

Here's the latest from the Gaither camp:

The Gaither Vocal Band and Ernie Haase & Signature Sound are teaming up for at least two concert appearances. September 9th the groups will be in Wheeling, West Virginia, and September 10th in Roanoke, Virginia. No word on any future dates.

This combined concert offers the rare opportunity to enjoy the Gaither Vocal Band outside the Homecoming concert format... plus Ernie Haase & Signature Sound Quartet. The shows are expected to sell out. Sources say tickets are almost gone for the evening performances.. but plans for matinee shows may be in the works.

tickets are available on line at www.tickets.com or by calling 1-888-397-3100.

Now, my early observation is that maybe, just maybe, this could be an avenue for Gaither should the Homecoming Tour start to slow down. I mean, who wouldn't love an evening with just the Vocal Band? Or, as in this case, the Vocal Band and Signature Sound.

By doing these types of dates with maybe one other group, smaller venues and cities could have the chance to host Gaither - and each group on stage would have more time and opportunity to connect with the audience.

The combos are endless: "GVB & Easters," "GVB & Hoppers," "GVB & Booth Brothers," "GVB & Isaacs," "GVB & Crabbs." Whoa. It may just put the Gaither Vocal Band on the traditional SG touring market. But, with it comes more accessibility by the fans - and maybe even an opportunity for them to "get enough" and thus satisfy their "Gaither itch." That all along has been what I've thought the Homecoming does so well: Gives you just a taste of each artists so that you don't tire of them--in fact leaving you wanting more.

And more is what's available at the product table...two for $25!

I attended the concert in Wheeling, W.Va. and it was thrilling to hear more of the music from the GVB! Wes Hampton did exceptionally well in his first outing as the new GVB tennor.
