Sad News: Anthony Burger has died.
Here's the report from Mark Lowry posted last night:
I just got a phone call from Michael Lord, Stan Whitmire, then Scott Davis so I called Barry Jennings to confirm it. About an hour and a half ago Anthony Burger was playing, 'We Shall Be Hold Him' on The Gaither Cruise, collapsed and died. A couple of people took him backstage and they tried to revive him, but couldn't. I presume this was a heart attack. I'll post more when I know the details. Please keep all of Anthony's family in your prayers.
From Gaither.com:
During the evening of Wednesday, February 22, while in concert on the Gaither Homecoming Cruise, Anthony Burger collapsed on-stage. He was taken backstage but was unable to be revived. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but is thought to have been a heart attack.
Please keep Anthony's family in your prayers during this unexpected and tragic loss.
Further details and arrangements will be provided as they become available.
And from the Singing News:

Thanks Daniel....what a resource....I especially enjoyed the link to Mark and listening to his radio show tribute to AB!
You Daniel just stepped up one notch on the piano playing ladder! Thanks for your efforts here and for the Kingdom!

Hi Daniel, Just wanted to say "hello".
Hope you're playing a lot of The Perry's music. I'm Libbi's sister, Debra. We just got back from the Jubliee at Sea. As always, it was fantastic. For those of you who have never gone, you don't know what you're missing. The food, fellowship, preaching, singing and island shopping is the greatest. I just love seeing so many of the groups when I was traveling with The Perry's. So many of the same people are around and to see them with their children is wonderful.
Keep playing that good gospel music.
Debra
I keep asking myself the question 'why is God taking all the good people Home after i just get to appreciate them more'. We have lost quite a feww Southern gospel musicians, singers, etc., over the last 2 years. Just a few short weeks ago, we lost whom I feel is one of the best ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and that being Adrian Rogers. I have been recording his sermons on my DVD that are broadcast on Sunday mornings over TBN. Just when we feel close to these people, the Lord takes them away. Not fair!!
I first saw Anthony Burger when the Gaither Vocal Band made an appearance in Fargo, North Dakota some years ago now and Anthony was playing the piano. Jake was along too and that made it special to me. It was just at "intermission" time and Bill announced they would be back in 15 minutes or so so I got up out of my seat, which happened to be close to the front center row, to head out back. Just then, the piano started playing and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Here was Anthony playing a short song and I stopped in my tracks, turned around and looked right at him and he was looking at me with my mouth open, jaw dropped, and just a grinning. Anthony caught my gaze and just let out the biggest smile I ever saw from him and I stood in utter amazement at the talent displayed by this man. Needless to say he became one of my favorite piano players and performers. I wrote him a short email just to tell him how much I apperciated his music and expressed how the Lord had truely blessed this man with such talent and how glad I was that he used it for the Glory of the Lord. Not thinking I would ever get a reply, a few days later Iwas surprised to see a reply from him. Such a special man he was. Heaven has been blessed to get him. I pray that the Lord will bless and provide for his family at this special time for those that loved him.
Hi Daniel:
I just wanted to tell you how very blessed I was when Anthony Burger came to our church and played. He really blessed me in a way no one has ever done. He was just bursting with enthusiasm and was full of the Holy Spirit. He is by far, the best piano player that I have ever heard in my life. I'm sure that the Lord wanted his talents up there in Heaven with Him.
