Jonah

During a sermon recently at my church, our pastor was teaching from the book of Jonah. I'm sure I thought "another sweet sermon about this nice kid-friendly story about a whale."

But, then something in the scriptures jumped out at me:

God used Jonah - a man who didn't want to be used by God!

I've often heard the saying that "If you have the desire, then God can use even you...." But, evidently God can use whoever and whatever he wants, regardless of their say in the matter. He's God and we don't get a vote.

C.S. Lewis says...

Man! Have you seen the numbers on Narnia? The movie is doing so well and I am so pleased. I loved the film; it's one of the few I would enjoy watching over and over. And, it's got people talking - hopefully about faith and God and atonement and stuff - but at the least about C.S. Lewis who about such things often wrote. Listen to these words of Lewis about focusing on Jesus and getting over your perfectionism. AUDIO>>

Enduring a Hailstorm in the New Year

Hailstorm! On January 2nd! Thankfully, we didn't get any direct hits from tornadic activity, but we did get some hail. Now that I am on this side of survival, I think it was kinda fun...actually.
