Anthony Burger

NOTE: THIS POST IS UPDATED WITH NEW LINKS

Sad News: Anthony Burger has died.

Here's the report from Mark Lowry posted last night:

I just got a phone call from Michael Lord, Stan Whitmire, then Scott Davis so I called Barry Jennings to confirm it. About an hour and a half ago Anthony Burger was playing, 'We Shall Be Hold Him' on The Gaither Cruise, collapsed and died. A couple of people took him backstage and they tried to revive him, but couldn't. I presume this was a heart attack. I'll post more when I know the details. Please keep all of Anthony's family in your prayers.

From Gaither.com:

During the evening of Wednesday, February 22, while in concert on the Gaither Homecoming Cruise, Anthony Burger collapsed on-stage. He was taken backstage but was unable to be revived. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but is thought to have been a heart attack.

Please keep Anthony's family in your prayers during this unexpected and tragic loss.

Further details and arrangements will be provided as they become available.

And from the Singing News:

Pianist Anthony Burger died today after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 44. Anthony was aboard a Bill Gaither Homecoming cruise this week and it was during one of today's performances when he suffered the heart attack. Anthony is survived by his wife LuAnn, two sons and one daughter. No other details are available at this time. Singing News will provide more information as it becomes available.

New Photos from 2002 Gaither Homecoming in Atlanta

PHOTOS>> Click Here!

I found some concert pictures from 2002 at Philips Arena in Atlanta with Bill Gaither and the Homecoming Friends. Just three pictures (with Bill, Ben Speer, and Kevin Williams)... but they're over in photos.

Someone once said that it is awfully arrogant to think that anything we can do is more sufficient than the blood of Christ. Steve Brown says "I'm probably not going to get any better." The focus of that is on the "I...not getting better." As long as you focus on getting better, you will become obsessed with that and not Jesus. When you instead focus on Him... then (and only then) you might just get a little better.

AUDIO>> Men and Church: Never The Twain Shall Meet??

AUDIO>> Why Men Hate Going to Church I gave some recent stats about male church attendance and talked about a new book and a website.

You need to check out this website. David Murrow was a recent guest on Steve Brown Etc. (click here to listen) and what he had to say is extremely revelatory! He has compiled research with response and gives a case for why the church has been "feminized" to the exclusion, in many cases, of manly men.

David Murrow's new book is Why Men Hate Going to Church.
