New Life

On January 22nd, at 7:54 am, our precious baby girl came into the world! She weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21.5 inches inches long. She has dark brown hair and dark blue eyes and the most peaceful face we can imagine. Her name is Jacqueline Kathleen Britt. We are currently pondering how God could see fit to bless us so much with two healthy, beautiful children.

Pierce adores his little sister and can't get enough of her! He was smitten with "her little tiny nose" from the moment he saw her and has remained her loyal subject these last couple weeks, fetching her pacifier when she spits it out and taking her dirty diapers to the trash. She is also very interested in him, gazing at him intently as he chatters about all the important things in life, like trains, cars, cookies, and the recent snow fall.

Daniel took off two full weeks of work to help Megan during her recovery and to aid in the transition from one to two children. He has been working tirelessly to make sure that things go as smoothly as possible for our little family. He is amazed by Jacqueline's ability to immediately capture his heart and by his own ability to unconditionally love both our children simultaneously.

Megan is recovering nicely and is ready to get into some sort of routine with the kids as Daniel heads back to work. She still can't believe that just two weeks ago, our little girl was still in her womb. She feels like she's known Jacqueline forever, but still can't stop discovering her newness. When she gets to hold both the kids together, she feels God's love for her more intensely.

Jacqueline has had her two week checkup. She weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces. Before we left the hospital she had lost some weight, down to 7 pounds, 10 ounces. Her doctor is satisfied with her weight gain and says she is very strong and healthy. She is sleeping fairly well at night, waking every three hours to eat and get her diaper changed. She is very reponsive and smiles when we smile at her. She follows Daniel's voice with her eyes whenever she hears him. And she seems pleased with herself that she can conjure up Megan's immediate attention whenever she makes the slightest noise.
