April Showers

Pierce will be turning 11 months old in just a few days. He weighs in at 19 lbs, 10 oz and 28 inches long!
Since our last update, Pierce has had another two teeth come in! The top front four are all in as well as the bottom two. So, he has 6 teeth now, and he knows how to use them. Watch out!
We’ve also watched as he suddenly “gets” words. Yesterday, I asked him where his toes were and he patted them and looked at me with a grin. He knows our dog’s name (Pickles), he understands “Do you want a drink?,” and he knows what we mean when we say “no” (whether or not he decides to respond is another story), just to name a few. And he understands new words every day! Lately, he has started to babble with more sounds, using the “g,” “b,” and “c” sounds, and sometimes combining them with the “l” sound and a strange growling noise. This all makes for a very interesting dialogue. Daniel and I sometimes fondly refer to it as his “gremlin” talk.
Although we are still having a hard time getting him to eat enough, we have found that we can bargain with him. He gets bored in the highchair and will only eat a few bites before he’s ready for bigger and better things, like pulling the cat's tail. To combat the boredom we say, “Do you want to hold this toy?” Of course, he does. So then we say “You have to take a bite.” It usually works very well to convince him that eating is not so boring!
Until just a couple of days ago, I would have told you that he didn’t seem to have any interest in walking at all. Now he is trying to stand all by himself (comfortably close to the couch, of course). He’ll let go and just stand there and clap for himself. We may have a walker on our hands before we know it!
Pierce’s first Easter was fun. He had Grandma’s and Grandpa’s doting on him all weekend. He had an Easter egg hunt at our church the weekend before Easter which he thoroughly enjoyed. On Easter Day we went to the Sunrise Service at our church. He was not sure why he got to go out in public in his pajamas and why he got to eat blueberry pancakes for breakfast instead of his usual egg yolk and toast, but he enjoyed them!
The day after Easter he came down with an awful virus and was sick for almost a week with a fever reaching 105 degrees. Then the bug left as quickly as it came and we had our busy little man back almost overnight. Now we are getting back to “normal” and enjoying it.
We have added some great pictures to the album, so check them out! We hope you all had a happy Easter and a great April!
