September

September has been a whirl of a month for our little family!
Labor Day, Daniel started his new morning show on Joy FM at 6:00 am. Since then, we have been trying to adjust to his new schedule. We get up at about 4:30, but Pierce waits until 6 or 6:30 to wake up. By then, Daniel is already on the air, so Pierce gets to listen to his Daddy. He points at the radio and says "Dad-dad" whenever he hears his voice. If I forget to turn it on, Pierce reminds me with the same words while pointing to the radio. He dances around when the music starts.
About a week after the start of the new show, "Dad-dad" was off to the National Quartet Convention and a couple different concerts. Pierce and I picked up Aunt Malia, Uncle Michael, and Uncle Merek and brought them home with us for a while. They got to have lots of fun in Winston-Salem and Pierce had more attention than he knew what to do with. He loved it, of course. Pierce turned 16 months last Sunday, the day "Nanna" (Megan's Mom) had to come and get Aunt Malia, Uncle Michael, and Uncle Merek and take them back to Georgia. He's been a little out of sorts since they left, but he's still zooming around!
Pierce has 4 molars now, to add to the 8 teeth he already had, for a total of 12 teeth. That last molar took forever to come in, but we are thankful it's here now. With all of these new teeth, it is easier for him to eat some things. His favorite thing is fruit like grapes, strawberries, and blueberries. He also likes chicken with ketchup (gross!), grilled cheese sandwiches, bananas, salmon, and ribs. He does not like tomatoes at all and lettuce is definitely a no-go, but he does like broccoli, brussels sprouts, peas, and green beans.
Even though Pierce is so busy, he still takes time to read. He gets a book and brings it to either Daniel or me (he actually preferred Malia while she was here)and he'll crawl up on our lap and listen or help us read it. He loves to be in charge of turning the pages. Through all of that reading, he has learned quite a few things. He has known for a while that dogs say "woof," but now he knows that bears say "roar." He loves to play "where's your...?" He can answer, "Where's your nose, toes, ears, eyes, eyelashes, hair, teeth, tongue, toes, knee, legs, fingers, and hands?" by pointing. He says a lot of words now too. "Ba-ba" is "bottle." He can say car, dog, night-night (nigh-nigh), milk, water (wah), bath, and he tries to say many other things on a daily basis. This new communication has been so much fun for all of us!
We've posted pictures of all of the fun stuff we did this September. Hope you'll check them out in the "photo album!"
Love,
Megan, Daniel & Pierce
